Her resolve.

Sited across the hallway, going through her phone, there’s a beehive of activity around her. Friends are catching up after a long time apart, everywhere around her there’s chit chat and a cling of stilettos. There’s a bevy of girls just opposite where she’s sited, she can’t help but overhear their conversation. A girl is gushing over the guy she once though would be hers, the way she describes him makes her heart squeeze. You see, he’s an epitome of true beauty, he’s 6’5, with a chiseled shaped chest, he’s skin tone is golden, a smile that could melt your heart and when he talks the whole world will listen. So you can only imagine the effect he has.

She should be happy that she’ll see him again, but the thought of it makes her cringe. She’s been dreading this day for the last two months, they were close, they’d walk home together, go on lunch and dinner dates, talk on the phone for hours and they’d still miss each other even if they had met a few minutes ago. Simply put, he had become the center of her universe, and that’s where everything went wrong because ,when you give someone that much power over you, they could crash you with a snap of the finger. And that is exactly what happened.

One day, the calls no longer came through, the texts became shorter, there were no more lunch dates or dinner dates, he simply wasn’t there anymore. He left without an explanation, she waited aeons for an explanation, she needed closure, but it never came. She wanted to hate him, but she couldn’t. Why? Because it’s hard to hate the person you loved the most. So with time she got over it or so she thought. With the increasing distance and months apart, she thought she was finally over it. But today she realised it was only put in her subconscious and today all that will be put to test.

She wanted to run but she couldn’t, because mama didn’t raise a weakling, so she decided to forge forward, not knowing how the events would turn out to be. But she was determined and silently hoping that she would somehow get closure.

The bell rang, signalling the start of class, people rushed hurriedly to their respective classes and she was brought out of her delirium, and as she walked to class, she resolved to never look back again even if it hurt.
